Flexible (unbalanced) Patch panel

While this is a relatively easy project it did take some figuring out to make a patch system that was as flexible as possible while still being easy to use.

The original idea was to have a patch panel at the back of my effects rack that I could connect to without having to fumble around inside the rack.
The problem is often by the time you organise a patch panel you can limit your options - or you can build a flexible patching system and make life easier for your self while keeping your options flexible.

In order to maintain flexibilty I was after 4 different options:

1) Simple through connection - Input to input and output to output

2) 'Y splitter' for insert/break connections

3) Cascadable inserts allowing to processors to be inserted on one channel

4) Line splitter to split a line two ways

Fortunately these 4 functions are not completely incompatible and it was possible to make a patch system that could do all these things without switches or links, but rather would provide different options depending entirely on how you plugged it in.
